This song came to be while we were jamming under the void deck of a housing flat. We've been toying around with the verse riff for a few weeks now, which in its infant incarnation was a lot more subdued and pensive. We knew there was something about the riff that could be great, but we were stumped in how to proceed, and we were growing tired and frustrated at finding only dead ends.

And then it started storming. Like of the "thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening" variety.

We couldn't really hear ourselves with all the ruckus that the weather was making, so we started playing our guitars louder. That led to us gradually playing it harder, faster, and more aggressively. We've finally found something that was working! And after that, the rest of the song flowed out almost effortlessly in that same afternoon. It's probably our most straightforward rock anthem-esque tune, and it's stayed as the opening track to our sets for quite a long time.
